| Greer, Arizona with an approximate elevation 8600 feet was founded in 1879 by mormon settlers from Utah. It located in the White Mountains of Arizona and is surronded rounded by Apache-Stigreaves National Forest. It is about 45 miles from Pinetop-Lakeside and slightly over 200 miles from Arizona cities Phoenix and Tucson or Albuquerque New Mexico. Credited to its high elevation Greer is between 20 to 30 degrees cooler then the big cities in Arizona. It is also the closet city to Sun Rise Ski Resort. The Little Colorado River splits through Greer and known as the East and West Fork. Within a 30 mile radius Greer has about 630 miles of streams and 22 trout lakes. There are many hiking trails within this radius. We also have Hon-dah Casino on the White Mountain Apache Reservations. | It is easy to see why Greer is a favorite spot with guest from Phoenix and Tucson and to get away from the hot desert temperatures. Most new comers to the desert area can not image that Arizona would have such cool temperatures in the same state. Greer is still a very little unknown jewel of the White Mountains.
